Hello, My Name is… Giveaway (!)

February 24, 2010 By crafterhours 70 Comments

Not too long ago A came over for a crafty evening. She grabbed the camera to take a picture of this display of drying Mod Podge screen prints. And a glass of wine. Not a crafting requirement. But occasionally helpful.
I had just screen printed a bunch of “Hello, My Name Is” badges to embellish and use on shirts, luggage tags, tote bags… and other things yet to be identified. What I’m really enjoying about the small scale screen printing is doing simple designs that can be personalized and embellished. Adrianna enjoys the construction and I enjoy the embellishment. I guess it’s a shortcut for me. Here’s what I just did with one of the badges:
After adding Aubrey’s name with a fabric marker, I ironed fusible interfacing to the back of the applique, then ironed it onto the shirt. I used a thin zig zag stitch to finish the edges. There’ll be a tiny bit of fraying. I think that’ll work for this.
In talking with the Queen of Mod Podge, aka Mod Podge Amy, she offered up a few related goodies that an enthusiastic crafter will get all kerfuddled and kerflap about. I myself am envious of the Dimensional Magic. And the Fabric Mod Podge, since I have only used the Matte original version as I did not have any of the Fabric variety. Jeeeealous. Yes, I know it’s wrong. (I’m happy for you, really I am.)
How to enter? Comment on this post. Tell us what sort of image you might screen print if you were to try screen printing. And… also, become a “follower”. No, we will not lead you anywhere all that scary, and it will not improve your chances of winning, it just ensures that we have a way to contact you without you having to post your e-mail address publicly. And I won’t lie, that “following” number, while just a number, is fascinating for bloggers to watch.
We’ll draw the winner from comments posted by midnight on Friday, EST. You’re out there somewhere, lucky duck.

UPDATE: Bummmmmer. It’s really hard to ship Mod Podge internationally, not only because it’s expensive to ship internationally, but also because it’s a liquid/glue and the customs people do not like it. (Mod Podge haters.) So… sorry international folks. Not this round. :(

I wonder if being from Australia would hurt my chances?
I’d probably screen print silhouettes in contrasting colours onto t shirts, or make some throw cushions with flowers and butterflies in one corner.

Treen…. I completely forgot to specify whether it’s open to non-US-ers. If it were me, I’d say “sure, why not? I love customs forms!” but since Mod Podge Amy is in sooooo graciously in charge of the shipping on this one so as not to slow down the transit from her kingdom to ours to Lucky Duck’s…. I’ll check. Darn it, after the last giveaway I reallllllly meant to be more specific. And that makes me want to say… Crikey! (Most anything makes me want to say that, really.) Susan

I would do those awesome name tags you came up with! Plus, anything with wheels (dirtbikes, bmx, skateboards) for my son and flowers, monograms and maybe even a princess tiara for my daughter’s room. And Palm Trees on pillows for me!

I love your blog – you two crack me up! My husband is always asking me what I’m laughing at and I just tell him “you wouldn’t understand!”

Oh, and I’m now an official follower!

I have been having a thing with trees lately, so I would probably screen print trees on EVERYTHING! I was so excited to see your Mod Podge screen printing post because screen printing is something I’ve always wanted to try, but there’s so much involved and I’m afraid the equipment and supplies could get expensive. I can’t wait to try your method.

I love your blog and am now officially a follower!!

Okay, you’ve got me on this one. Oh what I wouldn’t do with all the Modge Podge. Firstly, I’m conjuring images of wall hangings. We’re sticking with the transportation theme in C’s bedroom and he’s in desperate need of art work and then there are the three new baby gifts that are needed in the next few months.
Lucky me! I’ve been an avid follower since day one . . . when I first met you both . . . and immediately wanted to be an 1/8 as crafty as the two of you.

I wouldn’t know the first thing about what to do with/how to use modge podge. But I am so impressed with you both, I just had to comment. I suppose if I were to modge podge anything, it would be pictures of cats on Gabriel’s shirts, pillows, backpack, anything, because he loves them. If you refer to him as anything other than a “baby kitten,” he will correct you immediately and begin to meow.

Hi from London, fingers crossed I’m allowed to participate. My latest obsession is bags. I am experimenting with different textures and forms. Done one with seat belt webbing, jeans and now faux fur and organza, so printing my own motif is certainly next on my list. It would probably be an abstract motif.

Another one is that I’ve been meaning to make a silhouette picture of my baby girl and frame it. I even have the frames already.

My daughter’s room has been waiting for new curtains, so some of those bright colours with some As, Bs, Cs coupled with some easily recognizable animal shapes.

Adrianna calls RSS subscribers “lurkers”. We can tell how many there are, but we don’t have a way to contact them if they win something like we can if you “follow” through Google since our blog is a Blogspot one and it’s tied to Google and thus the Follow thing-a-ma-bob. Your choice, but if you want us to be able to reach you without posting your e-mail address publicly, then “following” is the way to go. (Some folks just prefer to lurk. That’s cool.)
