So, please keep in mind when we announce winners that these are highly HIGHLY subjective, based on Susan and Adrianna's opinion on the day we chose, and in no way reflects the quality or general awesome-ness of the skirt YOU made, if indeed it does not win.
Ok, whew, we feel better.
Now onto our A-Line Skirt Winner:
Flossie Teacakes' Corduroy Skirt!
The navy, the corduroy, the buttons, the printed cotton facings...there were just too many things to love about this gorgeous cold-weather number.
In her blog post, Florence describes how she used Cal Patch's Design-It-Youself Clothes
book to draft a pattern and make a skirt that was perfectly tailored to her body - for only £3.50! She also mentions one of my favorite things about sewing - the process of seeing a pile of fabric transformed into a beautiful, wearable garment by your own hands in only a matter of hours.
We chose this skirt not only because it was so well made and had such lovely details, but because we'd love to wear it ourselves!
Congratulations, Florence! You will receive:
Mod Podge for Fabric
, Simply Screen kit + Iron-ons from Mod Podge Rocks
1 yard custom twill tape from TwillTape.com
1 yard custom twill tape from TwillTape.com
1 roll twill tape from TwillTape.com
Lickety Split Bag pattern from Made By Rae
Summer Vacation Dress and Shortie, Can-Can Skirt Patterns from MADE
$20 Gift Certificate from Above All Fabric
Lily Skirt Pattern from Make It and Love It
And because we literally cannot help ourselves, we must showcase just a few more of our favorites. Though, picking a few favorites was almost as hard as picking one winner. Wish we could just repost the entire flickr gallery here.
From Little Cumulus, this mood-boosting rainbow voile skirt! We love the bright colors and the swingy style!
From Yellow House (her first blog post!) a reversible wrap skirt with adorable ties. Plus, it's reversible! Can be worn two ways. Either one. Each side. Did we mention it's reversible?!
From Subtle Tee, love the print, love the figure-flattering shape!
We love pockets! Check out these super cute ones from Sew Fearless:
And these unique pockets (made from a tablecloth!) from Flamingo Toes:
HappyCindys made the most "professional" skirt. (Get it? Because her profession is an optician? We kill ourselves.)
We have to feature this one from Dia's Days. Not only is it just too cute, but she used Adrianna's favorite fabric. And we're pretty sure she wasn't trying to cheat :) [Susan's edit: I am not so sure.]

ReplyDeleteOh lawks, Adrianna (and Susan...in her hotel room), one is innocently reading one's Bloglines and then suddenly comes across her own toes peeping out near the words winner! That was such a shock... but really a rather good one. And a completely surprising one too - I'd entered the skirt several weeks ago, intending to then enter something more summery...but then time escaped me and it didn't even occur to me that my skirt was in the running because I'd seen so many lovelies appearing on your blog in the last week or so...and somehow they seemed not just lovely, but seasonally appropriate too. Gulp - how kind!
ReplyDeleteI'm so delighted - thank you - and of course...the prizes. Squeak. They look really good - I'm very excited.
I can't wait to see which skirts you have picked from the other rounds too.
