No photos to share yet-- he'll be under close watch for a bit, but when I can, and have mama's blessing, I'll be back with that.
In the meantime, I've pieced together Liam's quilt top. Can I call it piecing when there're no little bitty pieces?
I love the simplicity of strip quilts. I'm thinking of a mostly white backing with a few small blocks of color. But what for the binding? It seems like a simple enough question that should have a simple enough answer, but I'm a little off this week. I'm just looking at it blankly. What do you think?
(I find that black beans make most excellent pattern weights, quilt clips, workout weights... not to mention protein sources. Quite the multitasking grocery item. And... I might iron this before I display it again. I know that's high-maintenance and all...)

What wonderful news. Sending best wishes and congratulations to you all. Miracles do happen.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! One of my friends also had a baby named Liam yesterday...weighing in @ 9 pounds 2 oz! Yikes!
ReplyDeleteI sure do love that orange dog fabric!
ReplyDeleteGreat news!! Can't wait to see pictures of the little miracle :) The quilt is very cute... maybe green binding?
ReplyDeleteThat's great news! Glad to hear! I read your post from a couple weeks ago and was wondering the other day, how she is doing! All the best to the new Mama, baby and rest of the family! Thanks for updating! And I love the stripes! Something different! I am still debating what I am going to do with my fabric for my baby quilt, squares and stripes or just squares! Not an easy decision.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear all is well! Lovely quilt as well. Wishing the new family all the best as they continue down the NICU road.

ReplyDeleteWhat about a black binding. It's such a strong color and we want both mama and baby to be strong. I'm so thankful Liam is here. I believe in miracles and Liam is one.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I LOVE new babies!! So happy Liam has arrived and is doing well:) I think a dark brown binding would be a great contrast to your darling quilt top. Perhaps a tone-on-tone brown?! Good luck and great job!! -Janica
ReplyDeleteblack beans are like duct tape!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on baby Liam , I am so happy he arrived safe and sound if a bit tiny and Mama is okay too.
ReplyDeleteWelcome baby Liam!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is beautiful in it's simplicity and colors. I'd use the green polka dots for binding.

ReplyDeletethe binding- the same fabric as the red stripes, definitely! glad to hear the great news! ~Lindsay
ReplyDeleteOh tell your friend congrats!!! I hope they're both doing well! I'm so excited for them! As for the sweet baby quilt? I'd go with a print... maybe in green?
ReplyDeleteSo, curious..was Liam born at 19wks? Fabulous to read a beautiful story. Praying for speedy recovery for mama, and strength for baby. :) The quilt is cute too.: )
ReplyDeleteIsn't that precious! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteEsther.
I'm glad that they are both doing so well. I wouldn't expect any less after all those kindly Susan vibes hanging around.
ReplyDeleteFor the quilt, I'd say green gingham for the binding. The back would be cute with a couple of scattered hexagons or dog houses.
Congratulations on the wee one's arrival!
ReplyDeleteStacey! Dog houses! Whyyyyy didn't I think of that? Perfect!
ReplyDeletegreen for the binding! Congrats to parents and baby liam!
