Plaid Flannel Sunki Dresses

I snagged the Sunki Dress from Figgys during a Friday Fiver last year and decided they’d make the perfect plaid flannel Christmas dresses!  All three girls got matching dresses, but I only got pictures of my oldest two.  DSC_0012

This was a really fun, really slippery hike.  The trail was covered in ice, but it wasn’t too cold outside.  The girls are staring off into the distance because the cliff face in front of us had teeny tiny climbers on it.  I’ve never seen anybody climb so high in real life.  I’m still trying to figure out what part of that would be fun.DSC_0046

So back to the Sunki.  I really loved this pattern.  It’s obviously a big hit in the sewing world, and for good reason.  I love the little shoulder overlap detail and of course those pocket insets are the best.  I kinda wish I had one for me.  The plaid flannel washed up so soft and cozy too.  At Christmas, all the girls had cream colored cable knit tights, but you can imagine how long those lasted.DSC_0054

These dresses feel so Colorado to me.  And since they’re not really Christmassy, they’ll be wearing them all winter long.  The Sunki has a generous fit, so I’m hoping they can all wear them another year with the hem let out, and then of course there’ll be hand-me-downs.  Plaid for years!DSC_0031

Flannel from Joanns, moccs from Minnetonka.

Cute dresses, cute photoshoot! Love them with the moccs, you’re right they seem very Colorado-y. This is that same flannel I used on some pants for the baby, it’s awesome stuff! Has washed nicely too. Way to go, JoAnn. Did you have any trouble with that sunki pocket? I have seen posts where people struggle with it but maybe that was just, like, their opinion man.

LOVE this! That one pic next to the cliff makes me nervous. I know that kind of ice, it’s super slippery. And I’m super neurotic. Heh. Love the plaid flannel, and I can’t believe I’ve never heard of/noticed this pattern before. Now I want it! And I agree, this needs to be a womens pattern as well. I would wear this exact combo, actually…

I just checked, and the other size range of this dress goes up to teen 16…. ;) And don’t worry, I was totally neurotic about the ice too. We were actually hiking at the edge of the cliff the whole time to stay off the ice! And that’s why the 3 yr old isn’t in this photoshoot.

I really like this pattern too and have thought several times that I’d love it in my size as well!
