The Breeze Top from Peaches and Peanuts

Shannon is the creative force behind the popular sewing/crafting/momming blog Little Kids Grow and her own pattern shop Peaches and Peanuts. She just released her very first tween pattern, the Breeze Top!  I know there’s a huge demand for tween patterns in sewing world, so this will make a lot of you very happy.DSC_0002

Although I have a hard time grouping my 7 year old in the “tween” category, I think her attitude, skill level, and interests are probably close to being there.  She was just barely too small for the smallest size, but it was close enough that she can wear it and maybe get another year out of it too.  Based on how it fits her compared to store-bought size 8 tops, I’d say the Breeze Top is spot-on in sizing.  The pattern goes up to size 16 too, so you get many years of use out of it!DSC_0012

You may have noticed that this particular Breeze Top is not so much a top, and that’s because of the aforementioned 7 yr old and her attitude.  I showed her what I was making and she was immediately excited because of the cool racer back, but demand-requested that it be a dress.  Then I rubbed my hands together and magic sparks flew from them and I declared, “And So It Shall Be Done”.  Sewing is a superpower, after all.

We both love the fit of the racerback and how it adds so much style and interest.  And the easy fit of the rest of the top makes it comfy and perfect for everyday play.  I thought the big hawaiian-ish flowers were a great print for the style of this dress too.  I used all knit (shocker), but the pattern also comes with the option for a woven top with a button closure on one shoulder that is very cute.  You can leave the hem loose or add a band to bring it in at the hips.

This dress kinda screams summer to me, and I predict she’ll live in it, given that she’s worn it twice this week already!  She’s definitely a fan, and trust me, that’s not an opinion easily earned from a tween.  Or even a 7 yr old.DSC_0017

FAB GIRL’S DRESS, SO UNIQUE WITH THE RACER BACK YOKE & ELASTIC. I love your choice of knit fabrics: pale pink for the bodice & a strong black and white large floral print featuring flower centers of pink! Your PHOTO SHOOT IS FANTASTIC showing ACTION–tree climbing and the sundress from the front as well as back! THANKS for sharing. Sarah in Minneapolis
