The Future of Friday Fiver

August 15, 2014 By Adrianna 25 Comments

FRIDAYFIVErWell, we don’t have a Friday Fiver for you today, for reasons that are too varied and lengthy to explain right now*, but we do want to hear your thoughts about this whole Friday Fiver thing!  Do you like it?  Should we keep it up? Friday Fiver was Susan’s brainchild to keep the summer exciting, but we think it’s been a big hit and are considering continuing it through the rest of the year.

So far we’ve had a good mix of physical goods and pdf downloads, but moving forward we know it’s going to be harder to source physical goods that can be sold for $5.  So our question to you this Friday, and then we promise you can move on to your brewskis and grilled steaks on the deck, is A. Do you have a shop or know of a shop that would like to sell a physical good for Friday Fiver? and B. Will you be just as excited if Friday Fivers are mostly digital goods?

Ok, that’s it.  You’re now free to turn the sprinkler on for the kids, pour yourself a cold one, and put your feet up!  Happy Friday!

*Adrianna forgot to schedule it.

I have looked forward to this every time you’ve had it (and bought something most times too, hahaha). Digital goods are awesome, because they are usually patterns I might not try otherwise.

Agreed. Although I might go broke if you keep it up.

Hi I’m new to Friday fiver and was so pleased to get Noodlehead divided basket pattern. As I live in the uk I’m a big fan of digital products. Also I think it is so nice of anyone to offer their products for a fiver happy Friday and thanks x

I did look forward to each friday and purchased some physical and some digital goods, but not everything. I think each time I also purchased more from the store in addition to the $5 item. For physical goods, maybe other shops that would offer “buy x $$ worth and get this bonus item for $5?” A sewing notion, yard of fabric, small charm bundle, length of ribbon, scrap bag…. PDFs are fun but I think it was the unexpected variety that was also fun for the summer. Thanks for pulling it together, I am sure it is a lot of work!

I’ve loved these Friday Fivers…I’ve bought most apart from the Lady Skater as I already have it. I prefer PDF files over physical patterns every time…easy to store, can re-print, easy to assemble and no waiting in for deliveries.

I love the idea of Friday fiver, I think you are right about physical goods, for us in the UK the addition of shipping makes it expensive so PDF’s are great for us. Thanks for all that’s been offered so far.

I really prefer the digital deals! I’m not much of a pattern buyer but I’ve already found a few things I couldn’t pass up.
For the physical goods, maybe things like trim and buttons would work better than hand-made items and fabrics?

Digital or physical goods are both good! I’d be just as excited with just digital goods. I like it when the product is around the $9-10+ range, so it feels like a “sale”. When it’s regularly $6-7, I might pass until I actually need that pattern.

I was really excited to pick up the toddler backpack, it was perfect timing for back to school and that really influenced my purchase.

I prefer the digital downloads. Great way to redisover something. Or finally pull the trigger if I have been on the fence.

I actually started following this blog just for the Friday Fiver. I prefer the digital offerings to physical stuff- or maybe I just liked the digital stuff you offered this time better! Either way, I’d love it to continue. Thanks for all the fun stuff so far!

I love it. I grabbed something I’d long admired while I had the discount. If sourcing becomes an issue maybe just offer it once a month or every other week or something. For what it’s worth, I love the digital patterns.

I wouldn’t mind it if was just the digital downloads. I love the idea of picking up a pattern here and there and you have included a lot of patterns that I have had on my wish list. My only problem – I am subscribed to receive your posts in my email and for some reason, I never seem to get them. I don’t tend to see the Friday Fivers until Saturday when they appear in my Bloglovin feed in my inbox. Any ideas?

Hmmmm. Ideas, yes. Checked spam, right? And added the e-mail address to your address book? It should come from scfyates@gmail.com

Here’s the direct subscription link, in case that’s helpful: http://www.feedblitz.com/f/f.fbz?Sub=897427

Let me know how it goes! I’d love to solve the problem if there’s one we can fix!

To be honest I was kinda afraid that you stopped doing the Friday Fiver!
I love Fridays now even more! I’d be happy about it being all digital goods, as I’m one of the people living over the pond and shipping costs would kill all the fun of the fiver. I was mostly happy about sewing patterns for kids and accessories. Because that’s what I love. But I also would be happy about knitting or cute cross stitch patterns for example.
