Baby Gifts #1

January 4, 2010 By crafterhours 9 Comments

Susan and I have been holding out on you guys.  December was hard for all bloggers since nobody could show off what they had made for Christmas gifts, but for us, it was because of baby gifts.  We had 3 friends due right around the holidays.  Well, I’m happy to report that 2 of those friends have had their bouncing, healthy babies, so let the sharing begin!

First up, a pair of cozy flannel booties for a new little boy (tutorial here).

I also made him a soft minky initial blanket, with some David Walker fabric for the back.  This is becoming a go-to baby gift for me.  So easy, so practical, and it gives me an excuse to use my custom-made (by Susan) sewing labels.  All good things.

And finally, we can’t forget about the new big sister!  (bet you can’t guess her name)

Susan already made these rag letters here, so I figured it was my turn.  I think they’re a great learning tool, and if other toddlers are anything like my 3 yr old, anything personalized is a hit.

Gifts for baby #2 are in the mail, so you’ll see them when I get confirmation of receipt.

Baby #3 is due any day now, and boy (or girl!) is it a doozy.  Susan, our mutual friend Stacey, and I sewed (and still need to sew) up a storm!  Get ready for some Anna Maria Horner, is all I can say.

I really like the baby shoes- how did you make them? I think a matching pair for mom to take to the hospital would be awesome!

Hi Adrianna, Thanks for the info about the rolled hem foot. I am not sure my sewing machine has one. I hate the thing anyway, I don’t know why I don’t buy a new one – oh yeah, they are expensive and I don’t know which kind to buy! Anyway, I’ll practice with the serger. Why are sergers scary? The only thing I do well with it is thread it. Go figure. I also am not sure how to convert regular patterns so I can use the serger. Have a good week!

I made a pair of babyshoes but I’m wondering how you enlarge the patern for toddlers? you put it on 200 % or how do I have to do it?
