We Have a Little Something for You: A GIVEAWAY!

January 31, 2010 By crafterhours 74 Comments

Yes, for real. Our very first giveaway. We can hardly believe it ourselves.

I am working on developing a product. That in itself is exciting enough, but in the process of researching potential materials to include in the development of said product, I found Field Notes.

They’re just so cool. Nerdy cool. Hip cool. Silly cool. Fun cool. And they might work for what I need… still studying. But in order to do the studying, I had contacted the marketing department and asked for samples. And they generously sent along enough not only for me to try them out, but for us to share with readers! (Readers? We’re still shocked that we have any. Christy, we still remember that you were the first.)

So… if you’re enthused about holding a set of these in your own clammy, trembling, excited little giveaway-winning hands, comment below. Tell us what you think you’d do with them. Comment soon, though, because the comments will be closed on Thursday, February 4th at midnight, EST at which point we’ll do that Random.org thing that everybody does to choose a winner. Assuming the chosen winner followed the rules and told us what exciting idea they have for these. Maybe you’ll use them to record your wedding vows?

Here’s the loot:  a Field Notes Three-Pack, pencil, pen, a super smooooooth band and a button. Try to contain yourself. And this is a photo of the actual loot that you will receive. Unless my kids somehow get ahold of it first. I’m hiding these right now. In a very safe place. Which means I am bound to forget where I put it. So I’ll tell you so you can tell me when I forget. It’s on top of the upper left corner of my fabric shelves. (Shhh!)

P.S. After the giveaway closes I’ll show you the inside of the back cover. So funny.

Hi, just discovered your blog today (really cool!) and there’s already a giveaway!
You can definitely sign me up. I would use those beautiful Field Notes as a little inspiration book. I have already several lying around, all filled with drawings, cards, photos, quotes & even little pieces of fabric. I could surely use a new one!

I need one by my bed as a replacement for those post-it notes. It should sit right next to my flashlight and pen, so I can write down those ideas I get in the middle of the night.

I also need one in my purse to write down, at a moment’s notice, those ridiculously funny things my boys say.

And of course I need one more to keep in my sewing room to jot down ideas I get while I’m in there.

I think that should cover all my main hangouts. Gotta have a notebook handy at all times! :o)

They look like Moleskines. So they must be uber nerdy cool. I would do with it what I do with my moleskines – first I either paint or draw on the cover to personalise it – sometimes I cover it with fabric, sometimes I carve shapes in it. I use one for a diary, one for my sketching ideas about patterns, about fabrics, about projects, about web designs (my work), about photo shots, about anything creative that flips into my mind. I use another to write every day what it is that I am grateful for so as to keep a positive thought process every day. You can use these little books for everything they are so fantastic.

So much to do with Field Notes…

    I draw strangers I don’t know.
    I transcribe memorable quotes.
I make notes and lists of items I make forget on my to-do list.
Tape found items (ex: photos, lists, lint, buttons)from my adventures.
Memorialize photo booth photos. (Reminds me of Amelie)
Force friends, family and acquaintances to shout out 7 words without any thought to them.
And of course the occasional telephone and address exchange.

Those notebooks are very cool! I would sew a girly cover for one and give it to my 5 year old daughter, who loves to walk around and write random words as if she’s interviewing people. I would make a cool name label and put it on another one for my 15 year old son to keep better track of his assignments (he currently complains that his other notepad is too big to drag out all the time-excuses!) The last one I would keep for myself to jot down design ideas for our ‘new to us’ home. The notebook is the perfect size for my purse. LOVE IT! Thanks for the chance to win!
