KCW: Go Anywhere, Do Anything Dress

January 31, 2014 By Adrianna 5 Comments

Today’s KCW fare is an Anywhere Dress from Andrea of Go To Patterns!  So, here’s the story:  I was sitting on my couch this morning scrolling through Instagram while the toddler watched Sesame Street and it occurred to me that I should probably get up off my duff and make something.  I believe that’s the spirit of KCW moving me.  Normally I ignore such urgings, pour another cup of coffee, and move on to bloglovin’.

I have a few things to say about this dress and this kid, and they are as follows:

– It took me 30 minutes from “get off the couch” to “lay finished dress out and admire”.  I had already printed, taped, and cut the size I needed the day before, so the hard part was done.  I also skipped the facings and just serged around the neck line, pressed it under, and topstitched with my coverhem to finish it off.  That shaved a good five minutes off my time.  I got this knit fabric locally and it has about 1% stretch, so it was perfect for a dress that needs a little structure.  DSC_0006

– I loveadovelove this dress.  Pattern, construction, fit, style,…font?  Everything.  I love it.  I’m glad she has her own perfect knit dress, because her little sister can rock the skater dress like no one’s business, but she just kind of looks like an emaciated stick figure drowning in fabric.  This one was made for her skinny long self.DSC_0011

– After I finished the dress, I waited all day for her to GET HOME ALREADY so I could see her in her cute new duds, and she raced in, made a card for a birthday party, donned the dress for two seconds so I could snap these shots, then packed up all her goods and took off for the sleepover.  It was a bit of a whirlwind, but I assume she loved it since she left without taking it off.

– My camera emits a black hole through which my kids can travel through time and appear a decade older than they actually are.  Hello 17 year old kid.  Oh how I love your Mona Lisa smile.DSC_0013

– But lest you think she is too serious and mature, let me disabuse you of that notion right now.  DSC_0005

– How cute will this dress be with leggings, a scarf, and boots?!  Or shoes of any kind?!

I think I have one more KCW post in me, so go ahead and hold your breath now!

*I was given this pattern to review and I gave my honest opinion under no duress or coercion.  Andrea Pannel is definitely not reading over my shoulder forcing me to say nice stuff right now.

Absolutely Beautiful….. the dress and your baby girl! They just want to be “big” so bad! We also have a “little” that wants to be bigger than she is, and right now! The dress, a great fix for a quick, simple outfit! We need that here more than not, especially since the outfits change so many times a day! Gorgeous!

30 minutes…for the win! I just discovered this pattern, and it is probably a ‘must.’ I don’t know how I missed it before now. Love the folded in neckline, it looks great. And I really love structured knits. She looks beautiful…
