This week’s Friday Fiver is a classic look you’ll love to sew from an expert sewing instructor who you’ll love to get to know!
For girls sizes 2T-6, this classic dress features a lined bodice, dirndl skirt, two neckline options, and optional Peter Pan collar and lined cap sleeves. Great for multi-season wear – just add leggings and a cardigan for Fall!
You’ll need less than two yards of fabric for any size, which means you can head right to your stash and get to work. And given that the pattern designer, Deborah of Whipstitch, is an experienced sewing instructor, you’ll find the instructions not only easy to follow but they’ll help you learn a few new things along the way. They’re so thorough that you can make this eeeeeven if you’ve never sewn before.
Why is it called the Flip Flop? Because you can flip the closure so that it’s either in the front or the back! And with the sleeve and neckline variations you can make a bunch of these in different fabrics – no one will even notice it’s the same pattern. And – this is my personal favorite – this post shows variations including velcro for the closure and I love love love how that looks!
