It is a dark, rainy, yucky day here. Normally I wouldn’t even try to take photos. But I took a photography seminar recently that helped me practice playing around with exposure, and I’m not unhappy with what I was able to get out of a really, really, really dark day. I mean, a bright day would’ve been nice. But… it’s a “you get what you get and you don’t get upset” kind of day, after the car I was driving narrowly avoided getting flooded and another mom’s car had to be pushed out of the flooded parking lot we were in in hopes that she didn’t have a total loss on her hands. It was the most “flash flooding” I’ve ever seen.
The subject of today’s shoot is a stocking I made that will be sent to Craft Hope’s “Christmas in Dixie” handmade stocking collection for tornado survivors in Alabama.
I’m passing this one off to a new crafting friend who is collecting them from several nearby crafters. I printed this stocking pattern suggested by said new friend and put some scraps Adrianna had passed on to me almost two years ago to use. The linen and striped fabrics are left over from Liam’s quilt and bumper, and the red and white fabric is one that Adrianna had fused fleece to to make ornaments. I love a fused fabric. No need to do anything to the edges. Just topstitched it on there.
K was quite confused when she saw a Christmas stocking on my cutting table this morning. She wanted to know why it was there and then where her own stocking was. I assured her that it’s in a box with all of the other holiday stuff and that it would not be leaving said box until after Thanksgiving. Just because it’s already Christmas at Hobby Lobby doesn’t mean it’s time to dig out the Polar Express.
Howeeever, this does remind me of how sad I am every year on about December 15th when I realize that my mental holiday crafting list cannot possibly be executed by December 25th…. of the following year. I think I’d like to have a more realistic list this year. Not that Pinterest is helping achieve that. Pinterest only makes the list longer. Maybe if I start prioritizing sooner… like December 14th?
Pinterest is evil. I have 4 quilts I want to get done for Christmas. I’ve given myself a Thanksgiving deadline. It’ll take up all my “free time”- but I will get them done!! Good luck on your list.

Polar Express was my alltime favorite Christmas book…not movie, but the book was and still is awesome!! I’m working on knitting a couple of stockings for this Christmas. One was supposed to be done, but I don’t like the foot/toe, so yesterday I started unraveling, then stopped because I didn’t know how far to go before I liked it again!!!karensue
