It’s a Hey June June!

June 17, 2013 By crafterhours 9 Comments

So I have this little business called Hey June, and earlier this month I thought, hey…it’s June!  So for the next two weeks it’s going to be a Hey June June over here.  I have two weeks’ worth of amazing guest bloggers who will be taking the little Hey June tour.   They’ll all be parading by with their versions of the Edelweiss Dress (my unofficial favorite Hey June pattern :)

But first up, it’s my turn!  I’m hoping that the guest bloggers will show you just how versatile this dress and tunic can be with different fabric and trim combinations.  But I thought I’d take a chance to show you how versatile it is for a multi-season wardrobe.  The tunic and the dress both look great on their own, under a cardi, or over a long-sleeved shirt, which means they can transition from season to season with ease (if you have seasons, that is.  You don’t even want to know how long it took me to dig out these jeans and long sleeves).

If this yellow eyelet and navy combo looks familiar, it’s because I just featured this skirt during Skirt Week.  I decided instead of larceny I should probably just go and buy my own.  It’s such a sweet combo of color and fabric.

One of my favorite things about the Edelweiss is that it can be styled in so many ways.  The ruffles and options for several different coordinating prints mean it can be made very boutique-y, but tone it down with some solids or stamped linen and it becomes modern.  I’m also a big fan of the back, with the cute off-center buttons.  For this version, I used the already-hemmed fabric selvage as the tunic hem.  Adorable AND time saving.  Gotta love that.

So that’s my Edelweiss, but stay tuned for the rest of Hey June June because I have some really fun and talented bloggers lined up (and maybe a giveaway or two also!)

 Happy June!

Love the blue and yellow eyelet together. The hair makes it the perfect look.

Omigosh she is too cute. Just finished my Edelweiss today. And I tried the bodice on her with just one strap sewn, and it seems to fit great! Woot!

Darling model. I love making clothes that can be worn every season. Jumpers are a favorite for my girls.
