Ruffly Voile Runner

March 15, 2010 By crafterhours 8 Comments

I did it!  I used some Anna Maria Horner Voile!  It’s been sitting there for months just mocking me and my inability to harm it in any way with scissors, but I fought the voile and I won!  Ok, so I actually didn’t have to cut into it, I used a full half yard, including selvages, to make this.  Baby steps.

I won’t go on and on about how this fabric is so yummy and soft and vibrant and how I take out my stack of it just to gaze at and pet every now and then because I know you’ve all read it before/do it yourselves.  But I do suggest you read what Anna Maria herself just wrote about her voile.  Very enlightening.
As much as I love that voile, I just wasn’t sure about the ruffles.  I think Disney’s Ruffle Your Stuff contest got me thinking ruffles, so they were on my brain and ended up in the next thing I sewed.

But then I took it outside for this photo shoot, and let me tell you, I fell in love.  Luuuuuurrrrrrvvvveee. It.  Ruffles and all.

It’s just so cheery and folksy and happy.  Attention Spring:  Come and get us – we’re ready for you.

Sidenote:  I know some of you are just cringing at my ignorance and my relatives are currently shielding their faces as if they don’t know me, but the extent of my knowledge of horticulture is very limited, so to me, these flowers are “green” and “white”.  I chose them for the same reason I choose any flower – because they were purty & smelled yummy.  If you have more information than that and can provide it in a non-condescending way, I’d love to hear it!  :)

pretty! Oh how hard it is to cut into some fabric – I feel your pain! This is great though. And I think your green flowers are a type of mum. :)

i saw this on Disney’s blog and loved it and had to come see for myself. I totally get you and the whole ‘can’t cut it’ crisis! fabric where I live is really expensive and hard to come by, so it makes me freak out even more!! =P
