I’m participating in Elemental Stitch’s Carefree Clothes for Girls sew-a-long. Every month Melissa announces a new pattern from the book for us to make. I love this idea because it will force me to make some of the things I wouldn’t normally have chosen, but will probably end up loving.
The first project was the Blouse with Doily Trim, and I was glad to begin with it because it would’ve been my first project anyway. I absolutely love the way it turned out.
For the sew-a-long contest, Melissa just requires that you alter the finished product in some way. It could be applique, stenciling, embroidering, you name it. I was pretty tame this month and decided to just applique a few hexagon patches on it so it would coordinate with this skirt.
I think the result was simple and really fit in with the organic, raw-edged style of the shirt.
More on this skirt to come. It will be part of a big BIG week we’re having next week, but you’ll have to stay tuned to find out what it’s all about :)
ps: no, my daughter doesn’t have a strange skin disease, unless coloring on yourself with marker counts.

I love the idea of this little sew along. Fantastic result too. I have a couple of doiles that I’ve been saving for a project just like that top. And I love the twill tape, did you print that out yourself? And I love the shoes, a perfect match. I just love love love it all ♥

thanks! this is still one of my favorite outfits! My middle daughter is wearing it now (yikes! she’s almost as old as my older daughter was in these pictures!)
the twill tape is from twilltape.com and he custom printed it for me, as he will do for you, if you ask nicely :)
