On Our Bookshelf: Flakey the Naked Snowman

December 2, 2010 By crafterhours 2 Comments

Naked Snowman? We in the crafty world would say that we could fix that, lickety-split.

But the point of this book isn’t about nakedness, really. Or about fixing Flakey.

A friend of a friend, Amy Tubbs, wrote and animated this book to offer her take on “alternative giving”– and Flakey is a loveable messenger. The little twiggy arms kill me. And his eyes are so expressive for being so simple, no?

If you need to know more, and I really think you might, check him out.  Amy donates 20% of proceeds to charity. My kids love the Flakey book. And should you ever hear anyone called “flakey” it might have an entirely different (and far more positive) meaning. It’s a new Christmas classic around here.

Looks cute. I’m a sucker for stick arms.

We say “nakey” instead of “naked” at our house. I think “Flakey the Nakey Snowman” sounds just a tad better. :)
