Embellished Skirts: A Tutorial by JaniJo

May 23, 2012 By crafterhours 2 Comments

Today’s guest blogger is Janica from Janijo!

Jani was the readers’ choice winner in the full skirt category last year, so she’s kind of like a Skirt Week alumni coming back to speak to the current graduating class :)  Here’s her winning skirt from last year:

And today she’s sharing how she took three simple skirts and embellished them in three different ways with three different kinds of trim.  For three different girls!  As a mom of three girls myself, I really love the idea of making simple clothing and then making each one just a little bit different.  Matchy, but not matchy-matchy, if you get me.  It’s a great technique to keep in mind for future sewing.

Head over to JaniJo now to get the full tutorial and see her totally adorable pics of twirling girls.  (And while you’re there, check out this perfect graduation gift for the grads in your life.  One day they’ll thank you for the laundry detergent.  Probably sooner rather than later.)

Thanks so much Janica!

Those are so darling!!!! :) Love it! I can’t wait to be able to sew some cute and fun dresses for my little girl when she gets to be a bit older. :)

I just love the giant rick rack! Just adorable! I’ll need to get a few of these made for my daughter. She doesn’t have anywhere near enough skirts…then again, can a girl ever have enough skirts? ;)
