The Ruched Maxi Skirt: A Tutorial from Sew a Straight Line

May 22, 2012 By crafterhours 5 Comments

Our very first guest poster for Skirt Week 2012 is also one of the very first bloggers I started following!

It’s Sabra from Sew a Straight Line and she’s here to share her tutorial for her Ruched Maxi Skirt!

I can’t remember how I started following Sabra, but I do know why I still follow her religiously.  She’s incredibly sweet and funny and down to earth and is one of the more prolific “sewing for herself” bloggers.  I love to create stuff for my kids, but sewing for myself can be so intimidating.  Not for Sabra!  She’s always whipping up cute tops and skirts and bags!  Oh the bags!  Plus, she has a whole archived section on her blog of sewing lessons, from how to sew a straight line (ha!) to how to make a shirt placket and everything in between.

Plus she’s the mom of 3 boys and one brand new baby girl (born on the exact same day as my new baby girl!  with a horticultural name, just like mine!  They’re like sistas from a different motha.  Ok, that didn’t rhyme) and I’m just in awe of how well she balances her mom life with her sewing hobby and blogging life.  Check out her blog for lots of fun kid activities too!

But the #1 reason you should be following Sabra, if you don’t already, is because of this.  She made her husband a nevernude suit.  If you know what that is, you know that it’s pretty much the epitome of awesome.  (If you don’t, then you should immediately drop everything you’re doing and go watch Arrested Development.)

Head over to Sew a Straight Line today for the Ruched Maxi Skirt tutorial and tell Sabra we said hi :)

That nevernude suit is EXACTLY the reason I started following Sabra :)
