KCW Day 2: Protect the Innocence of Your Eyes

July 17, 2013 By Adrianna 20 Comments

For KCW today, I offer you two knit skirts with built-in chastity shorts (I’ve mentioned here before that I refuse to say “skort” and that decree is still very much in effect).  They are a necessary clothing item for any trapeze artist wanting to keep her unmentionables unmentioned.

The stripey skirt is version 1, dots are version 2.  The only difference between the two are the shape of the built-in shorts.  They’re still a work in progress. I also think I prefer the deeper hem in version 1’s skirt.

Version 1’s shorts were too short in the crotch (you can see the strip I added to lengthen them) and version 2 is a little too loose around the legs.  I imagine this means that version 3 will be all that is perfect in a pair of knit chastity shorts.  Preferably without any added effort on my part.

Back to the drawing board!  Luckily my girls pretty much live in these skirts, so we can’t have too many.  And since I’ve put this much work into it and the skirt is practically one size fits all, I might just have to make a free pattern for you!  But only if you ask nicely.

I was going to draft up the same exact type of skirt/short combo pattern for my daughter this week for KCWC. I have a feeling I will have similar problems with fit…it’s always hard to get it exactly right the first time.

I will also plead with you to make a tutorial. My daughters love these chirtys (chastity plus skirt-thought I’d invent a name) and I like how yours has a long waist before the gathered part. I have to make them for my 8 year old because she isl fussy about the fit (we received a bag of hand me downs and if the crotch the is baggy in any way she wont wear them).

Would you share with your Nichada friend? I got back into sewing this summer and these would work great for my rambunctious little ones. We call them ayground shorts (but usually they are separate from the skirt). I’m not a big fan of the “s” word either. Which material works best if I want to stock up before returning?

Pretty please with a cherry on top? My daughter would live in those skirts 24-7 if I let her. I would love a tutorial for one! :)

Oh, yes, please! I need to make several pairs of these for my girls who have no concept of modesty (the oldest is 3, so I guess that’s normal). I made a couple of pairs of knit shorts, but they’re not attached, and that would be so much better!

My children seem to believe whenever they say “pretty please” I am obliged to do whatever they are requesting. So pretty please make the pattern. :)

I love these kinds of skirts – I call them “cartwheel skirts” or “monkey-bar skirts,” though, it seems more kid-friendly. (Have you seen the Urban Dictionary definition for “Chastity shorts”? LOL.) In the winter, I have my girls wear leggings under skirts – keeps their legs warmer and still gives them the freedom of movement of a short skirt. A pattern would be wonderful – please please, with cheery cherries on top?!?
