Hey June: Skirt as Top and Hustle Mama

First up today is Kristin from Skirt as Top!  Kristin sews for herself and her three little ones (including one leeeeetle little guy!).  She is known for her beautiful and meticulous garments, great fabric pairings, and fun style (she’s a contributor over at the Oliver + S blog if that tells you anything – they don’t just let any riff raff on there!).  She has such a great eye for the details, whether in constructing a garment or going over a pattern with a fine tooth comb.  She’s helped me out with some of my patterns in the past and her suggestions have made them 150% more awesome.  If you’re about to sew a popular pattern, I’d check to see if she’s made it first because she’s sure to have shared all the details about fit, alterations, and improvements.  And of course she’s one half of the popular sewing series Film Petit, which is kinda the coolest thing ever.  Kristin made a v-neck Union St. and paired it with a gathered skirt for the perfect comfy yet pulled-together summer look.  I’m kinda digging this semi-monochrome tonal matching lately.  I don’t know if I could pull it off as well as Kristin does though!  Go check out the full scoop at Skirt as Top!14323350478_a42dcf0d93_k

Next up is Shannon from Hustle Mama!  Shannon sews for her three little girls and runs the wildly popular etsy shop, Hustle Mama Handmade, where she makes and sells all kinds of fun stuff (and she’s a two time former Skirt Week winner!!).  I personally own her reusable snack bags and a mason jar tumbler and they’re pretty much the best.  My mason jar follows me everywhere during the day and it makes drinking water so fun that I’m fully hydrated for the first time in my life.  So I can honestly call Shannon a life saver.  Shannon is sharing her Union St. tee on Instagram because she hasn’t been a full time blogger for a few years.  BUUUUT rumor has it that she might be starting up with the blog again.  Make sure you follow her on Instagram though, because besides all the fun and cute stuff she posts, she also runs instagram-only sales on limited edition products!IMG_1251
