As part of a series for The Daily Seam, we’re helping spread the word! Er… words. TRICKY SEWING WORDS! Have you also found yourself in the position of needing to say a sewing word and wondering whether you’ve nailed it– or maybe you sound completely ridiculous? You know how to spell it, and what it means when you see it, but SAY it? Nope. This is the third part in a series meant to help you learn how to say it and feel a bit of community with other blog-reading sewists, because there are a LOT of words that are hard to figure out how to pronounce! Not only are there self-taught sewists, many are reading blogs INTERNATIONALLY! When English isn’t your first language even the word “sew” is tricky! So let’s get to it!

So, we’ve reached the end of the official list of sewing terms, but I reached out to someone very important in sewing world to add two more clips. Both of which I myself pronounced so very wrongly for several years and fell out of my chair the first time I heard each one pronounced correctly. So I had to enlist her help!

I had so much fun with these videos! And as a german I can totally relate to the fact the the pronounciation of “sew” and “sewing” is more than weird. I had got to know the right one already some time ago, but for quite some time I said it totally wrong in my mind…

Awesome series….only two I had been pronouncing wrong….Anna instead of Ahna and Panne – pan instead of how I’ve been saying it pann-eh! Another one you perhaps could’ve included is bargello….as I’d been saying it wrong for years!
