Valentines Day Dress

February 12, 2010 By crafterhours 2 Comments

Wow, that was a creative post title, huh?

As Susan mentioned in her post about her daughter’s Valentine’s Day dress, we both used this tutorial again, with even more variation.  I’ll save my raving since I’ve said it all before.  Just go make this pattern.  You won’t regret it.  And so you can see all of the things we’ve made with it so far, I’ve labeled each post about this pattern with “Our Favorite Pattern”, so you can just click on that phrase over in our sidebar under “Stuff We Do”.  Or click here.

This time, in addition to your base bodice and sleeve pieces:

I added a waistband (cut two, these are still folded, obviously):

And an a-line skirt (again, cut two on the fold):

Then I went a little nuts with some freezer paper stenciling and ended up with this:

Here is an action shot so you can see my enormous “oh no she didn’t” mistake.  Yep, I didn’t alter the pattern so it would be every-other.  See how the same hearts are touching on the side seam?  ew.  Thankfully 3 yr olds don’t care.

And unfortunately, this is it for me and Valentines Day this year.  My sickness and vacation just got in the way, on top of not really loving Valentines Day to begin with.  Some crafty blog we are!

Very cute dress, and I love the stenciling – even if they don’t alternate all the way around. I’ll be keeping this idea in mind for when it starts to warm up in Chicagoland. 9°F is a little cold for a short sleeved dress.

Cutie cute! I am going to have to check out the tute. Although I have quite a few peasant patterns now. Should have found you sooner! I just love your blog. Every time I see ‘crafterhours’ in my blogger I chuckle and click just to see what you two are up to now. And I am so gonna make the milkmaid skirt. It is on my list for thing to make for this summer.
