(Um, sorry about that title.  I have a serious problem when it comes to puns.  I’m getting help.  Just keep reading as if that title never happened.)
When I originally made this Milkmaid Skirt, it was for Marta’s little girl’s 2nd birthday:
It ended up being about 14 sizes too big, so she saved it for later.  Now it is closer to fitting her, but the coordinating shirts I made are too small, so Marta sent me two new shirts to decorate for her.  She wanted the pink one to match the skirt, and thankfully I still had some scraps of that Park Slope left, so I made this (hence the post name):
She gave me complete artistic free rein on the yellow shirt (now that’s bravery) so I decided to copy Susan’s jean jacket decor.  Predictably, that turned out so horribly that I ripped it all out and made this instead:
I still used Susan’s idea of fusing the fabric together and cutting out the name, then stitching it on down the center, but it turns out that meandering loopy lines are not my friend.  Straight-ish balloon-string lines?  Now that I can handle.

I always love buttons as embellishments but I hate sewing buttons for some reason. Super cute as balloons, though.

Those shirts are adorable! I made that skirt a couple months back for my 2 year old and it huge on her too… Glad I’m not the only one. I’ll put it in the closet for next year maybe!
