Help Us Name This Dress? (And a Giveaway)

April 20, 2010 By crafterhours 64 Comments

I am working on an easy-peasy dress tutorial. Here’s my favorite version of it so far:

I’m totally in love with it, which is why I’m so focused on giving it a lovely, snappy, fun name. But my problem is… I can’t think of a good one. The only things I’ve thought of won’t work. Like… “Strip Dress”. Uh… no. And it reminds me of a parfait glass, but even if I wanted to go with that it’s been used for a dress. Adrianna hasn’t come up with anything brilliant yet either. We’re helpless.
So… give us your ideas. If we pick yours, I’ll make one for you in the toddler/little kid size/color range you choose. My fabric stash is looking good right now, I think I could make almost anything. Twice if I had to.
Lay it on me. I need the help! (My husband names our children. I have name-selection paralysis, apparently.)
UPDATE: As of April 22, we have a WINNER! To be announced with the tutorial. (It’s SO GREAT!)

It’s adorable. It looks so comfortable and, very important in my world, easy to pull up to use the potty. For the two year old. Heh.

    Summer Squares Dress?

    Squared Swing Dress?

    Swing (or Spring) Fling Dress?

(It could also be super cute with printed twill tape where the straps and middle section are…)

I see the eyelet fabric and I immediately think “breeze”. And since we (like I had something to do with it–haha!) can’t use parfait, how about Sunday?

So…Breezy Sunday Dress, Breezy Stripes, Striped Sunday?

I’m a little more literal–when I see the eyelet fabric, I want to use eye in place of I somewhere. Like Eye Spy, or Eye Heart Patchwork…something like that.

the colors made me immediately think of sherbet – so how about sherbet stack

    or

because the colors are “orange” related – how about orange you glad? (or something summery like this – orange sherbet, lacy sherbet, etc…)

I have a few ideas — with explanations for each one.
Sweety Dress (because it really is sweet), Orange Peel Dress (the strip of fabric is the peel to me) Pop Band Dress (the front strip is the “band”), HalfPint Dress (Cos the strip cuts in half), and lastly, because it popped into my head – the Pooky Dress.

Ooh, I guess “apple peel dress” is actually better than orange peel. Since the band isn’t necessarily orange!

And cuz it looks like it was created during the volcano problems, the “ASH-ley” dress. lol, i crack myself up.

    here it goes…

Both my ideas honour your last 3 years and soon departure.

First one that came to mind was The Santorini Sundress and the second incorporates Kallista somehow. (which means “most beautiful” in Greek AND includes the first three letters of our beautiful little model). Need to think on the Kallista and how to bring it together with strip dress… Kallista Strip Dress? Hmmm?
