My Kind of Math Equation

May 3, 2010 By crafterhours 14 Comments

First, let me interrupt this post to tell you how excited I am that one of my Spring Tops has been chosen for the top 60!  Wahoo!!!!  Top 60 out of 368?  Yeah, that’s better than I did in high school.  Let’s hear it for personal improvement!  If you’d like, you can vote for it here.

And now we’ll join this regularly scheduled post, already in progress….

If you’ve read through any of my tutorials, you know I’m pretty adverse to doing math.  But here’s a little equation I can wrap my head around!

+
+
+
=
!!!

Every math equation should end in exclamation points, don’t you think?
In case the pictures weren’t clear enough, here’s what I did:
  • Dug up an old, too baggy, boring white hoodie, found a heavily embroidered shirt with good potential at a yard sale
  • Cut the embroidered bits off the shirt
  • Stitched the embroidery in strategic places on the hoodie
  • Cut away the excess fabric around my stitching
  • Took in the whole sweatshirt, from waist to sleeve, to make it fitted
  • Cut the cuff off the sleeve, cut the sleeve above the elbow, reattached the cuff
Done!

I’m so pleased that top has been picked…I’ve kept looking at it in the Flickr group and am in awe of anyone being able to do something so complicated with a stretch fabric (they terrify me…but I might buy the Built by Wendy book on stretch fabrics to try and remedy that) – it looks fantastic.

I just popped over here from Made by Rae where your awesome blue shirt is. I am loving this blog! You’ve given me so many ideas–I have t-shirts that need to fit over my not-a-baby-bump and I love the fabric going down the sides idea (it’s one of your tuts). What fun place to visit–soooo adding you to my blog roll :)
