We have two more big winners to share with you! First, the Judge’s Choice for best Full Skirt:
Striped Skirt |
Congratulations Amy! The judges loved your skirt and commented that it was “absolutely adorable and flirty”. And for everyone else loving this skirt, Amy has it for sale in her shop! Amy will win all the prizes listed in this post, including $25 to spend with Twill Tape Guy, just in case her shop needs some new “This Big Oak Tree” custom labels!
And the Reader’s Choice Full Skirt winner:
Green Medallion Maxi |
Congratulations Hustle Mama! The judges’ comments included “Love the length, fabric and the ruffle around the bottom!” Shannon will win everything we covered in this post, and the $35 credit she’ll win from Girl Charlee means she can make lots more maxis!
We have a lot of things to say about Shannon: for one, this is her SECOND time winning the full skirt category. She won way back in 2010 during our first ever skirt week! And she’s also the newest Crafterhours sponsor! Adrianna has ordered the reusable snack bags from her shop, HustleMama, and loves how they close with a pocket fold at the top instead of velcro, which is just as effective in keeping the goldfish outta the purse, but doesn’t snag on all the laundry. And the Dress Up Dolly craft kit, with it’s mixed media paper dolls, has already been crucial to fighting summer boredom. If you’re traveling or just staying put with your little girl this summer, we can’t recommend them enough. They’d be a perfect birthday present too! She has lots of other fun accessories and outfits in her shop for great prices, so go check it out! Congrats Shannon!
(full disclosure: since Shannon is a sponsor, we thought this would be a good time to remind everyone that Susan and Adrianna had absolutely nothing to do with choosing the top 10 skirts or any of the winners. For this one week out of the year, we keep our opinions to ourselves.)
And because it’s entirely possible the winners will want make sure mom, dad, BFF and neighbors will all be quite certain of the fact that they WON, here’s a bloggy bit of decoration to share:

okay… I have to say that it bothers me that the striped skirt won judges choice. I thought that the skirt week rules said that skirts had to be made after July1st of last year, but the blog post tutorial the striped skirt maker links to from the her flicker entry is from APRIL of 2012.

You’re absolutely right Rosie, and we apologize. It was an honest error on our part, and we’re guessing on the part of the contestant as well. We simply don’t have the time to check out each skirt to make sure they were made within the correct timeline, and many don’t have blogs that we can check up on anyway, so at some point it comes down to a matter of honesty on the part of the contestants. If we do skirt week again next year, we will try to be more diligent about checking up on each skirt and stating up front that every rule must be followed or it will be cut.
Thanks for letting us know!
