Skirt Week PRIZES! (Part I)

June 1, 2013 By crafterhours 4 Comments

So, there’s already a lot to report from Skirt Week. You’ve probably already seen the rules run-down, all the ways you can keep up with what’s happening and checked out the mountain of Skirt Week Inspiration we’ve helped assemble. Then there are this week’s tutorials so far – knit pencil, grommet waist, curved pieced with wide waistband, reversible a-line, ladder panel, t-shirt refashion and high-low maxi skirts.

There’s a lot left, too! More tutorials, info on the judges and competition week!

But… what about the prizes? Oh, yeah! Prizes! The push to sew for yourself or a girl you love is, of course, enough of a prize, but why not add prizes anyway?

So, there are four categories to enter skirts and win prizes– A-line, Straight, Full and Kids. In each category we’ll have two winners. The panel of judges will choose a winner and you and anyone else who’d like to vote will help choose the “Reader’s Choice” winners. What will they win? A whole pile of fun. We approached the people we ourselves most like to gather loot from. Today we’ll share the Judge’s Choice winnings, and tomorrow we’ll share the Reader’s Choice winnings. ‘Cause it’s too much to digest in one sitting.

First up:

ZiptIt has added $50 in store credit to spend any way you like! Maybe an assortment of 3″ zippers in rainbow colors? Or a whole buncha beautiful kaleidoscope zipper pulls? You pick! And…

Twill Tape Guy, a Skirt Week sponsor since the very beginning, is gifting the winners $25 in store credit to spend at TwillTape.com as they like. Custom printed grosgrain ribbon? Twill tape by the roll? A little of both, maybe. And…

Miss Matatabi is offering your (um, the winner’s, which may be you? But if not she’ll let you buy some too) choice of any two yards of in-stock fabrics! We’re both in love with Nani Iro – maybe pocho? Or Fuccra: rakuen? Pretty sure those are Japanese words for “awesome” and “really super awesome”. (Feel free to offer your own translation. We know awesome when we see it.) And then…

Last but certainly not least, Oliver + S, the authority on fantastically detailed and professional children’s sewing patterns, has contributed one digital pattern of the winner’s choice. Maybe the hopscotch dress, shirt and skirt pattern? Or the music class blouse and skirt? Or a jump rope dress? Dozens of others to choose from.

A pretty awesome bundle of crafty sewing fun, right? We’re so excited to have this group of sponsors to help encourage you (and us) to GET SEWING! With about a week left before the entry deadline, you’ve got time to make it happen! Tomorrow we’ll share the prizes for Reader’s Choice, and they’re just as amazing! Have a great Saturday!
