Today I’ve got a double whammy for you guys, and first up it’s Jennifer from Parrish Platz!
I “met” Jennifer when we were both living in Europe and I was really excited to discover fellow overseas sewists, mostly because I needed someone to commiserate with re: the lack of sewing supplies available. Except she doesn’t really count because she was working in a fabric shop at the time with a bunch of other sewists (worst job ever, right?) Anyway, they ended up being some of my very first sewing blog friends back when Crafterhours first got started. So I’ve been following Jennifer for years now and you could say I’m a bit of a fan. I don’t even know if I can describe her style in more concrete terms than “awesome” and “really awesome”, but I think what I really love is that the stuff she comes up with is unexpected. She can sew clothes and quilts like a fiend, no question, but she’s also a master of fun, kitschy, and unique home decor. Basically when you go to her blog, you never know what you’re going to get, but you know you’re gonna love it. And if for no other reason, you should check her out because she has the greatest blog banner of all time ever in the history of the world.
Jennifer is sharing her Edelweiss tunic today, and all I can say is Anna. Maria. Horner. that is an adorable dress! The Edelweiss was MADE for these fabrics! No, really, that’s how the pattern got started. Even though Jennifer says she was inspired by my version to use those fabrics, I’m now inspired by HER version to make another one with those fabrics. It’s the circle of life…
Before you go see her Edelweiss, I have to give Jennifer a big shout out because she actually named the Edelweiss pattern! She’s one of my very best pattern testers and when I mentioned I needed a name she gave me lots of fun suggestions (my favorite was actually the Lonely Goatherd). I’ve been trying to keep my pattern names to places I’ve been, but I had to make a big stretch for the perfection of the name Edelweiss (it IS actually a place in Germany, and I’ve been to Germany…just not there.)
Whew, sorry about all the rambling. Just go check out her blog already, k? Thanks so much Jennifer!
