We’ve all heard of the Men’s shirt to girl’s dress refashions. They’re adorable and so very inventive. We love it. But we thought it was time the men got a little crafty love. So, we decided to do the reverse. A girl’s dress refashioned into a men’s shirt.
First, find an outgrown dress that isn’t too girly. I used a purple floral, because I thought pink would scream “girl”.
Next, sew the armholes shut.
This will create a little peak. Sew straps to that peak. They can be ribbon, twill tape, fabric, what have you. Use your imagination and give it some flair.
Now, if you have a dress that buttons down the back, unbutton it. Otherwise, cut straight down the back of the dress. Measure your man’s back and sew a rectangle of knit fabric to each side of the back of the dress to fit the width of his back.
And you’re done! This is an easy, breezy, summer top that your man will love. Perfect for those hot days when a little ventilation is welcome. And best of all, he’ll always remember his little girl when he’s sporting a shirt refashioned from her old dress.
Make one for your man today, he’ll thank you!
